"Precept must be upon precept, precept upon precept, line upon line, line upon line, here a little and there a little." Isaiah 28:10
During last Sunday’s service, the 1st Reader mentioned how the church service was a healing one. This really struck a note with me. I wanted to share with you a healing that resulted I believe from the service.
After this statement was made, I considered the many things I was praying about. One item was about how one of our cats had been missing for 3 days. This same cat has disappeared for 2 weeks a few years ago, and after much prayer, and some practical steps such as speaking with neighbours, the cat simply reappeared.
During Sunday’s service, I wondered why our family needed to “demonstrate” this again. I realised that I still believed that a cat could be missing or be lost. As we were all saying the Lord’s Prayer, it became very apparent to me that God truly was everywhere. It is His kingdom and land, and there is nothing else. Next, I thought of the definition of God, and the phrase “all knowing and all seeing” took on a new meaning. Our family cat was with God, and couldn’t be anywhere else. God knew where this cat was, and was taking care of her. The phrase from Hymn 66 also came to mind “ O perfect Life, in Thy completeness held, None can beyond Thy omnipresence stray;”. I knew and felt with a deep conviction that this cat was with God - always.
When I left the service, I felt relieved and at peace about this cat. The cat didn’t appear on Sunday. Nevertheless, I still felt at peace and that she was with God. I also felt that I would be led to take whatever human footsteps I might need to in the following days. I was convinced that if this became necessary I would be led by God in my actions, rather than approach it in a scattergun approach as I had previously.
As I was setting out breakfast on Monday morning, the cat simply appeared. She was well and happy. By appearing early in the day, everyone in the family was blessed. Each of us could go about their day knowing our cat had arrived home and that she was safe.
I was very grateful for the reminder to expect healing from each church service and the renewed peace gained when turning human affairs over to God.
