A Growing Awareness of God's Tender Loving Care

Throughout the last year I have been grateful for an ever- growing awareness of God's tender loving care of all his creation despite what the material senses might be trying to report.

During three lockdowns my two little boys and I have been calmly and peacefully in our 'right place' within school – they as pupils and myself as a teacher. Early on during the pandemic I diligently prayed for a greater awareness of God's loving protection for all, and I am so grateful for the blessings this has brought. Pupils’ grades have met, or exceeded expectations, as staff we have mastered a whole host of technological tools, and when challenges have arisen these have been swiftly and harmoniously met.

One specific experience I am particularly grateful for occurred towards the end of the summer term when all school children had returned to their classrooms. In the middle of teaching a lesson I received a phone call to say that my son was in the office at his primary school. He seemed to be exhibiting some of the symptoms that staff had been asked to watch out for and I was asked to collect him as soon as possible. While I sorted out the logistics for covering my next class, I was earnestly praying about not only my son's inherent innocence, but also that of all children, big and small. As I got into my car to drive to his school the tender angel message 'Peace, be still' flooded my thought.

When I arrived at the school the secretary remarked that my son seemed to pick up from the moment I was called. My little boy then skipped down the path to the car park asking what games we were going to play when we got home!

I was very grateful for this swift reversal of the material picture. However, I was a little concerned about the secretary's advice that I should keep an eye on him and take the 'right steps' if I felt he needed to be tested. I rang a dear Practitioner friend and explained the situation. I told her that the school staff seemed to think he had potential Covid symptoms but that I knew he did not. She gently shared the thought that what we needed to claim and hold to was that we were “not believing that anyone else could believe in a material circumstance.” The fear dissipated and my son and I returned to our rightful places the next day. No further mention was made, and all was well.

This experience was a great turning point in my prayers for the world; refusing to believe that anyone else can be tricked into believing in material circumstances no matter how convincing they might try to be. God is good!
