"Precept must be upon precept, precept upon precept, line upon line, line upon line, here a little and there a little." Isaiah 28:10
My in-laws were visiting and we all went to London by train. On our return, when we arrived at Waterloo Station, we realised that my mother-in-law did not have her handbag. It was rush hour and the concourse was quite busy. She recollected a man running for a train, hitting her quite hard on one side. She was convinced he had stolen her bag when he had hit her. Also, throughout their visit, my mother in law seemed to forget where she had placed items.
I was angry. I had done much metaphysical preparation for my in-laws’ visit, and I couldn’t understand why this had happened nor accept the conclusion that it had been stolen. My husband and father in law went off to talk to a policeman and to file a report.
My daughter noticed my anger and asked me why I was being angry instead of praying about it. She added that God knew where the handbag was, and that we couldn’t hear Him if we were angry. I thought about what she said. I realised my daughter was right, though at first I was reluctant to admit it. After all, everyone around me seemed upset- couldn’t I be angry with them being upset, and with my mother in law not being careful with her belongings?
Then, quite clearly I remembered a healing with my in-laws when my daughter was born. They had kindly come to visit and give us a hand adjusting to her arrival. They were very helpful and loving throughout that visit. Yet, shortly after arriving at our home, my father in law realised he couldn’t find their passports or airline tickets anywhere. I remember claiming at that time that they could be penalised for expressing such selfless love and support. Within two days, our doorbell rang and the postman was there with a large envelope. Contained with it, were the passports and airline tickets, even though there had been nothing in the information indicating where we lived.
As I thought about this healing, it was very apparent that their completeness was still intact. Nothing had changed. We returned home later that evening, and my husband and father in law completed the formalities of filing a lost property report.
A few days after my in laws returned to the States, we received an email that the handbag had been turned in, complete with the mobile phone, all the credit cards and the American and British cash. My in-laws couldn’t believe it. I thanked God for this demonstration of their completeness remaining intact, and the proof that God’s idea, man, is never dishonest.
