"Precept must be upon precept, precept upon precept, line upon line, line upon line, here a little and there a little." Isaiah 28:10
When we moved into our present house seven years ago, we were swept away by the size of our garden. What we didn't realise was that the house didn't sit squarely on the plot, and that the view from the new lounge was mostly of a garden fence. So despite spending many happy summer days in the garden beautifying it, we couldn't enjoy any of that beauty during winter. I found this quite a mental challenge. It seemed to be a belief of being limited by matter, and at first I couldn't really understand what was going on. I felt trapped and oppressed. I couldn't see how gentle but persistent prayer could help here. I thought that we needed to do something practical.
Shortly after association last year, I finally came around to the idea that now matter how long it took, I could pray to see our freedom from narrow thinking of any kind. I began to work with a practitioner on gaining that sense of freedom. The hymn "I love thy way of freedom, Lord, to serve Thee is my choice" puts this idea in its proper place. That, and the sense of God's infinitude, and the fact that God is continually making all things new, became an impetus for our activities. We visited a new build eco-home that we liked, and we put plans into motion to make a few changes to our current home in readiness to sell it. And with these plans the wall came down, and a double door went in its place. Many aspects of our home have been made new, and we have been thankful for our new views for over half a year. We are now looking forward to the next new chapter with joy and gratitude.
