God is My Husband and My All

Following my divorce some years ago there was a persistent, nagging thought which suggested that one day I might find another man in my life, but this would only happen if a seeming abnormality of body was first corrected. Not many people would consider a small piece of loose skin to be particularly abnormal, but to me it was embarrassingly gross. As a Christian Scientist, going under a knife to have it rectified by a surgeon was not an option.

Bottom line: I did not like my body. Vain thought? Yes! In Ecclesiastes 2:17 says.... "for all is vanity and vexation of spirit." Among other definitions a dictionary describes vanity as empty, useless, fruitless, unsatisfying.

Little did I know that so-called mortal mind, which is devoid of reality and therefore empty, was leading me down the garden path to a cesspit of preposterous beliefs, outlining what it assumed I needed , and when and how. What's more, it was making me find fault with my body. With hindsight I realised that none of this was coming from God who is the only Mind, and that my body is a spiritually perfect idea as the reflection of Him.

I have never desired another husband, so the thought of some other man was a nonsense. One night about to go to sleep, the insidious ‘man thought’ cropped up yet again. Then in a flash of exasperation I found myself rebelling as I heard a bellowing but wonderful Christ message : " I DON"T NEED A MAN!!!"

With that the skin instantly normalised.

The lesson : Christ IS the man, God is my husband, my body, my ALL.
