"Precept must be upon precept, precept upon precept, line upon line, line upon line, here a little and there a little." Isaiah 28:10
Early one morning, I heard my mother calling me from her room downstairs. She was lying flat on her back on the floor at the end of her bed. Her eyes were open and she said “Can you help me?” I was concerned as Mum thought she had been there about an hour.
I tried to lift her, but could not, so my first thought was that I needed help. At some point the words “Unfallen, upright, pure, and free” came to me. I knew Mum would not want an ambulance, and any person traveling to us would take time. I looked round I noticed her little padded low footstool, so I said, “Let’s try to get you sitting on the footstool.” That worked eventually and she asked for a drink of water, which I quickly provided.
I asked if she would like me to call a practitioner, and she brightened and agreed. We received instant support, and a message saying, “Listen for angels – you will be led by angel messages.” As we pondered this briefly we decided to try again to get her onto the bed. Both Mum and I suddenly became a bit more strengthened and managed to get her sitting on the end on the bed. This was only a quarter of an hour from first making the call.
I called to relay progress and the practitioner suggested,“Listen and maybe read.” We both strengthened a bit more and Mum was able to move up the bed. She ate a little sandwich and drank. Then we read the lesson (on Sacrament) in turn, together, as we often do, which included Ps 4:4, "Commune with your own heart upon your bed and be still." We quietly laughed together at this perfect message. Not long after she was able with my help to get to bathroom, and then I helped her get partly dressed and then she rested.
Later that day, Mum spoke to the practitioner to explain she was feeling much better, but her knees were bothering her, and she had very strong griping pain in her tummy which had been bothering her for some days. The practitioner referred her to the verse in I Peter 5:10 which says, “...the God of all grace, who hath called us unto his eternal glory by Christ Jesus...make you perfect, stablish, strengthen, settle you.”
That night I reminded myself of this. I was thinking how God is constant and we are in his embrace, when I sensed some changes going on in my left side, which had felt knotted up for months. This continued and by morning it was all comfortable, and Mum’s discomfort had lessened and her knees felt fine.
The practitioner suggested to Mum to be grateful for progress and expect it to continue. She also encouraged her to declare that the discord never happened; she had never been separated from the Christ consciousness; she could remember she is loved and cared for; and she could keep going forward gently step by step.
Mum progressed well each day. Members of the family came round and were a little concerned that she seemed tired, but she was so much better. We kept in touch each day with the practitioner as Mum improved steadily. Finally on the seventh morning Mum spoke to her on the phone and said loudly, “Hello ... I am better!” The answer was, “Yes I can hear that, and I am so grateful.” We all declared our gratitude to God for this healing, and rejoiced together. It was a wonderful moment.
