"Precept must be upon precept, precept upon precept, line upon line, line upon line, here a little and there a little." Isaiah 28:10
My husband and I were taking a little holiday in Bideford, Devon, staying in a converted barn in a little hamlet where there were very few people or traffic, a much needed break after what had been a very challenging year for my family.
Early each morning I took a walk on my own to enjoy the birds and peace of the surrounding countryside, and quietly pray for our dear family members. The hedges had all recently been cut, and as I proceeded, something caught my attention in a bush. I peered into it and a jagged branch stabbed me in the eye causing great pain and tears to flow down my face.
I was in agony and for a split second I thought, "this may mean hospital". This was immediately followed by another thought, "God is right here now with me, how can anything possibly harm me when I have been praying and feeling so close to Him." I mopped my face and continued my walk, holding on tightly to the thought that nothing can separate me from God's loving care - I had proved this for myself on previous occasions.
The pain stopped and the tears, and on my return to the barn I resisted any temptation to look at my eye in the mirror, or mention it to my husband as I just needed to quietly stay close to God. I did not suffer any after effects of the accident, no redness, soreness etc. I felt so much gratitude for this proof of the healing power of the Christ.
