"Precept must be upon precept, precept upon precept, line upon line, line upon line, here a little and there a little." Isaiah 28:10
One evening, my friend and I exchanged a big hearty hug to say hello before bundling ourselves into the car to celebrate another friend’s special occasion. One of my earrings became caught on my friends’ woolly textured coat, and went flying out of my ear into the night. I quietly and firmly began to pray.
My friend and the others with us searched in vain with torches and lights from their iPhones for the missing earring. I continued praying and listening.
This was to be a special evening, and these friends had rearranged the outing to ensure my husband and I could be included. With such love being expressed by them, how could anything other than love be seen and felt. I knew that love does not include loss. I claimed my completeness – not complete except for 1 earring but complete! Something can’t be complete if there is an exception! Also, the thought came quite clearly that God, the all knowing, knew where everything- including a single earring was, in His kingdom. After all, He had created His kingdom and was all knowing.
The earring did not appear before we needed to leave for our dinner reservation. Throughout dinner, whenever the earring came to mind, I affirmed my completeness and expressed gratitude for the love being expressed. Upon our return, I stepped out of the car, and a few feet away, the earring could be seen on the drive. My friends were amazed that it had been found, and had not been driven over or lost in the grass.
I silently praised and thanked God for showing me how nothing can ever be lost.
