Prayers for a Family Member

My sister's grand-daughter, who is only 15 months old, was diagnosed with a very rare and distressing disease which involved an operation. My sister, who has never forgotten two remarkable healings she experienced herself when she had asked me to pray for her, asked me to have my "thinks!" So I got down to it, knowing it was my fear I had to work about.

After a few days I suddenly had a light-bulb moment: "She doesn't know anything about the medical theories or mental baggage. As a little child, innocent of mortal ‘stuff,’ she expects to be well and trusts that." Wow! My fear was gone, and I wrote down in my full-text quarterly, "Job done!" and drew a smiley face.

I then "came out" and actually shared my thoughts with my sister and the young family by text. My sister responded very quickly and then, a day or two later, she texted me: "They aren't starting the chemotherapy, they want another look at the biopsy and another think. I don't know if that is good or bad." I replied that I thought it was good they were not rushing into things and worked on staying "up" and being confident that all was indeed well.

Then came the wonderful text: "It is benign!" And what they thought would be a long, long road to recovery was over in just a few weeks. The doctors were totally flabbergasted, because they said this condition is never benign. They are scratching their heads in disbelief. And Sue said that that was what happened when her growth disappeared, they couldn't believe it.

Wow, I’m blown away. This has given me such hope, because I often feel I can’t see through my own challenges. But hey, perhaps that’s something I shouldn’t feel stuck on, if I’m able to help someone else -- which is what it’s all about!
