"Precept must be upon precept, precept upon precept, line upon line, line upon line, here a little and there a little." Isaiah 28:10
More than 12 years ago I seemed to lose my sense of smell. As I could still taste food properly, and didn’t particularly want to smell bad things, it didn’t seem to matter. However, I did expect that this could ultimately be healed.
Occasionally I would pray about this, but not in a focused way. Then, just over two years ago, after praying frequently with the support of practitioners about a family challenge, I noticed that I could smell very strong garlic when it was being cooked. I was very grateful for this sign of progress and felt sure that the sense of smell could be fully restored. However, I wasn’t able to smell anything else; even food that was burning.
This past year I diligently worked through the study citations from our 2020 Association meeting. Late in 2020 I read a testimony about someone who had experienced a healing and restoration of her sense of taste and smell. I was reassured that healing was possible.
One evening before Christmas 2020, I announced to my family that I had good news and bad news. The bad news was that the potatoes had started to burn! The good news was that I had smelled this was happening and was able to rescue them.
From then on, I focused on acknowledging that, with my spiritual senses, I could not only hearGod, but see, feel, tasteand smellHis goodness! I started to smell good things such as my son’s after-shave.
I am very grateful that I have now been able to smell lots of lovely things; but also, I am able to detect when things are stale and need refreshing.
I am so grateful for this healing. Although it has been a very gentle progression, it seems to have come as a benefit of much study and resulting growth in character.
