The New Birth Going On

I have been blessed with many healings throughout the year but this one showed me the glorious effect of the new birth.

A family member has been cared for by the family for 10 years.  As the human end appeared near, care demands became intense.  A family meeting was called to bring everyone up to date and to discuss the best way to deal with the situation.  The family is large and far-flung geographically, and there were many different opinions, interpretations, levels of understanding, and personal needs.

I prepared metaphysically as best I could.  The meeting was by turns frustrating, intense, enlightening, and tender, but did not end in unity or resolution.  When thinking about it later, I realized there was much human will for things to go a certain way.  Slowly, I realized that all the differences of viewpoint were irrelevant.  All that mattered was what God was knowing about the situation and about each one of us. GOD was in charge, divine Life, Truth, and Love.  I began to find ‘resolution’ by resolving things into thoughts, as Mrs Eddy said. I thought about other family situations in the past and spiritually resolved them in the same way. I saw that the family meeting was not my business, only God's.  My business was to see and feel God's presence.

I remembered something from a book called THE ULTIMATE FREEDOM by John Wyndham.  He was in solitary confinement in a Japanese concentration camp.  He struggled with his thoughts of hatred and fear, even scratching CT (standing for Control Thought) on the cell wall.  He overcame fear and went on to affect much good for both the enemy and other prisoners during the years he was confined.  He said: "The battle was no longer with people and circumstance but with false thinking, which was constantly being corrected and defeated by true thinking." (page 18)

All this was teaching me the understanding of God as All -- one God.  We are all His idea (singular), one reflection. We are the expression of one God, good, no matter what the circumstance seem to be. I realized that the discord in the meeting was mortal mind trying to deny God's supremacy.  As I was thinking about these things, I was looking out of the window at a huge old oak tree.  It seemed so still.  The wind was blowing the leaves and branches (like our meeting) but the trunk was unmoved, sustaining and controlling all.  So we were all held in place and sustained by the law of God.

Though the situation still needs our prayer and involvement, this revelation has brought me the most palpable relief, and my sense of joy since then has been long-lasting.  My peace has been solid.  I am experiencing the words in Revelation: "...God himself shall be with them, and be their God." (Rev 21:3)
