The Waiting

The Bible states, “They that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; they shall walk, and not faint.” (Isa 40:31)

Oh truly, many thoughts crop up in my mind as I read this.  The parents waiting for children out past curfew know it.  Couples having trouble conceiving a child know it.  A family separated by overseas military service know it.  A pregnant mom ten days past her due date knows it.  A person struggling to be hired for a new job knows it.  A candidate of the year knows it.  In fact, at one time or another life makes us wrestle like this until we learn to wait on divine Mind to point out the right path to pursue. Then we throw the weight on the right side of good, God, and realize Mind's fruition.

A dear friend and I had planned to take a day's journey to pay a visit to another friend who had a newborn baby. On the way my friend knocked a rock and one of her legs was injured. The leg got swollen; but that didn't deter our journey.  I affirmed to her that good could never result in any evil, and we forged ahead to accomplish our mission.

After some time the leg improved, but instead of healing completely a lump developed on the hit area. She complained of a little pain at times, but usually recalled my words that good could never result in any evil.

After getting used to the lump, she came across a doctor who needed to know the cause of the lump in her leg.  She explained everything.  The doctor told her to get it to a surgeon so that it could be removed, as if not it could develop into something complicated in future.  My friend got worried when she heard about taking it to the surgeon.

I decided to go and see her.  To me the leg looked much better than when I had seen her last. She assured me still she had great faith in what I told her.  All she had in mind was that nothing could harm her sense that all would be well.  So she decided to let that doctor’s thought get out of her, so she could keep a clear attitude of mind.

Two weeks ago she paid me a visit with a very shining face declaring, “My leg is fine. I do not know when the lump cleared!  There is no pain, no lump. I have no idea when it happened, but today I noticed it. I felt I can't let this day slip away before letting you know about it. I am completely whole.” What a joy! I had waited with all my heart to see her relieved of the problem with this leg, and I truly thanked God. We all hugged in great joy.

Our leader said, “Beholding the infinite tasks of truth, we pause, – wait on God. Then we push onward, until boundless thought walks enraptured, and conception unconfined is winged to reach the divine glory." (S&H 323:9)  Daily we wait on this divine Mind to point out the right path to pursue. Confidently and strongly we climb the heights of Mind with an understanding of God as the first priority in our life.
