"Precept must be upon precept, precept upon precept, line upon line, line upon line, here a little and there a little." Isaiah 28:10
Everything we have experienced in our life that is good in the form of relationships, education, work, our families, or pleasant environment, lingers in every mind in one way or another. As one pauses and focuses on these positive experiences, a great smile comes out radiant with a lot of inner joy. This great fulfillment is indeed God’s way.
But, sometimes circumstances change and become less positive if an incredible opportunity is not well taken care of. Then the enthusiasm and joy of the experience may lead one to forget there can be duties and responsibilities involved too. Also, we must make the most of the present, in order to keep on advancing. We truly know that it’s not necessarily a smooth and soothing human life. Many times it requires us to take strong stands.
That is what happened to my daughter. After high school she received a full scholarship to the college of her dreams. It was an incredible moment for us as a family. We all felt that it was God’s doing. But in college my daughter almost forgot that this incredible opportunity carried with it responsibilities and duties. Not only was she expected to keep up her grades, but to pay back a portion of her tuition from a part-time job the college provided her. But she never did pay much on her account. So the college had to take stern measures to see that she fulfilled her part of the agreement. It was a tough but a great lesson for her to learn.
Darling friends helped her to come to her senses, wake up and realize she was going down the wrong path. She needed to make right decisions based on her valuing a good education and understanding the wonderful opportunity she had to get one.
She gained the sense of responsibility, moral strength, and moral discipline required. She is now complying with the college agreement and she has found the whole world opening up to her – a world of feeling the care of love for her. So rather than regression, she has witnessed progression.
Best of all, she has learned that when things get difficult and the temptation arises to forget these lessons, she can remind herself that the law of divine Mind that holds up the universe, holds her up as well.
So we are celebrating with her as we all pause, smile, and watch her pursue with confidence the incredible opportunity to grow in the understanding of divine Love.
