Our cat, Alvin, had a digestion issue. One time he was in so much pain that we felt the loving thing to do would be to take him to the vet to clear out his system. Far from being the end of the matter the same problem resurfaced a couple of months later. This time we saw that we needed to pray for a permanent solution.
I called my sister, who is a Christian Science practitioner. The issue did not resolve itself by the next day, so I called her again. Right at that moment an immediate healing took place. My sister said that, in that moment, she put her foot down to defend her treatment. That was a great learning moment for me.
In late March this year Alvin seemed to be sneezing a great deal. This had never happened before. In a silly moment I looked up “sneezing” on the Internet and the results ranged from a minor dust in the nose problem right up to serious cancer which I dismissed as ridiculous. I decided to pray about it and then, if the issue did not resolve itself, we would take Alvin to the vet.
Then I remembered something recently shared on a group Christian Science practitioner call: Christian Scientists aren’t “fixer-uppers” they are defence attorneys. I realised that although the vet and I had the same motives for healing we had completely different methods. The vet tries to fix up a material body, but we defend the spiritual identity and affirm the unreality of illness. A very quick healing followed.
These two experiences showed me that defending Christian Science treatment, and understanding clearly what it is, can bring about quick healing.
