"Precept must be upon precept, precept upon precept, line upon line, line upon line, here a little and there a little." Isaiah 28:10
This year, during a very deep struggle, many wonderful ideas kept coming to me to lift my thought to a clearer and sweeter view.
Many things were being seen in a new light and one thing that helped greatly during this time was that precious little book “The Greatest Thing In The World.” Here it shows how to love through all situations and to see the right path ahead through whatever confronts you.
Then one day I was deeply yearning to let go of old ideas and their hurt, and this was all tied up with sorting out the contents of an old home that seemed to bring up many challenging thoughts. I prayed deeply for a better view of all these things -- and then the idea came to see each as a different vase of flowers!
At first this seemed a strange message, but I stayed with it and realised that I just love flowers, and never worry if one vase is different to another, or if someone arranges their vase differently to mine. No, I just love each one for what it is and shares, and am never upset or distressed by them. Each is a blessing in its own way, and all I can do is rejoice and be blessed by that.
I shared this with my husband and he loved the idea too. For days we would keep saying to each other, “Oh it's only another vase of flowers!” It sounds simple but the hurt it removed was big, and I was able to go forward with things in such a different way from then on, rejoicing not reacting. What a sweet release!
This idea has helped me and others so many times since. It just brings a sweetness and beauty to situations that otherwise could cause reaction. As it says in hymn 9, “It brings us sweet release.”
