Emanation

Emanate: to flow out from.

While working on an idea from a recent Christian Science lecture, regarding the Holy Ghost, I came across the idea that Christ identified himself as an emanation of God, not God himself.

I have always worked to know I am a child of God, or a reflection. But since I am earth-bound enough to have had a father, the image of God as my Father isn't easy to take on board. Neither is reflection, as I know that I see a mirror image in the mirror, or an obverse image of myself, not the identical picture of me. So in my exacting thought, that can have the unintentional effect of distracting me.

But this idea of emanation took hold. If Christ is an emanation, then surely we are too. And suddenly I could really understand my relationship with God better. An emanation just IS and it is all that the origin is, without being the origin. I could relate to that very easily with no confusion, or nit-picky thoughts about obverse pictures. This clearly brought me a more direct link, completely part of and expressive of God, with no break in the line, no room for anything to get in the way and I could very happily agree to this being the link I have to God.
