Fight Stopped

My son and I were driving home from school when I noticed some sort of altercation on the pavement. There were a group of young adults, and a lady of rather senior years was trying to pass by. She seem a bit unsteady, and was then knocked over as the jostling when in her direction. I pulled over into a convenient parking space, and went over to help. Two girls spun out into the road, violently pulling each others hair.

I noticed another girl helping the old lady to her feet, so I began to demand that the girls stop fighting in my most commanding voice, but they only locked in tighter combat. An anxious boy was also telling them to stop fighting.

I then realised that we needed to go higher, to the great heart of Love. It felt right to walk up to the girls. I gently put my arms around their shoulders and began to tell them that we are all in the Kingdom of Love and they were both children of Love, loved and loving. I don't remember my exact words, but they began to loosen their grip on each other, and slowly stopped fighting. As I spoke to them they listened, and when I had finished they separated.

The boy kept thanking me, and asked me if I was a Christian. I agreed. As the two girls walked off in opposite directions, one of them turned back to say said she would get the other back, and I mentioned to her that I felt she was better than that (based on her true spiritual identity) and I hope that's true.

I then went over to the lady. The third girl had kindly helped her to her feet. The lady reassured me that she was fine, and that this girl was going to walk her home.

I got back in the car, grateful for the opportunity to share God's Love with his children. Of course, my son wanted to know what had happened, and what I had said. We agreed that it was great to see God's ability to diffuse a situation together.

I am very grateful for our project of reading Science and Health, and how this gives us confidence to be a practical blessing in our community.
