From 'Trying to Letting'

Several of you have mentioned the strength the daily Lesson-Sermon is bringing to you.  One mother with five children and a husband who works away all week is taking a degree course in a field she has always wanted to work in, and getting excellent grades!  She says many people have asked how she manages to do all this, but she says “it would not be possible without the daily bread I receive in the morning – which is a lot more effective than Kelloggs cornflakes!”

Another member writes, “I realise how immeasurably my enthusiasm and application to the Bible and Science and Health have grown.  The reading of the Lesson has become of major importance to my day, and it is helpful to see how each Lesson is relevant to our needs, whether they are related to family, work, or community.

This writer also brings up another important point.  She found herself becoming frustrated in wanting to prove that she really understood her relationship to God, and be able to prove Christian Science!  Then the thought came to leave it with God, and LET the answer come.  She turned on the television and it was the program “Songs of Praise” from a nearby cathedral.  It was particularly inspiring, and she suddenly realised she was free of the problem she had been experiencing.  She had stopped humanly “trying to understanding” and God’s angel message happened to be in the hymns she had heard.

Later, re-reading the ‘Genesis’ chapter, these words leapt out:

A simple statement of Christian Science, if demonstrated by healing, contains the proof of all here said of Christian Science…You can prove for yourself, dear reader, the Science of healing, and so ascertain if the author has given you the correct interpretation of Scripture.”

Another member had a similar experience of needing to move from TRYING to LETTING.  She went for some walks to enjoy everything that was beautiful around her, and just to LET the truth come to her, which it did, and some fine healing experiences resulted.
