"Precept must be upon precept, precept upon precept, line upon line, line upon line, here a little and there a little." Isaiah 28:10
It seemed I was going through a cycle of starting new jobs which turned out to be unsuitable, becoming very stressed and then having to leave the job in very unhappy circumstances. When this happened yet again a year ago, I was left in a seemingly inconsolable state wondering want on earth I was going to do with myself. It is with tremendous gratitude that I can testify to the verity of Mrs Eddy’s statement, “Truth and Love come nearer in the hour of woe, when strong faith or spiritual strength wrestles and prevails through the understanding of God.” (S&H 567:3-6)
I contacted a friend who had recently told me she wanted to expand her Christian Science practice, supporting her friends and family through prayer. She was very pleased to be able to come to my aid when I tearfully related to her my tale of woe. She worked with me over several months, as we confirmed together Paul’s words from I Corinthians: 15:38 “Therefore my beloved brethren, be ye steadfast, unmovable, always abounding in the work of Lord, forasmuch as ye know that your labor is not in vain in the Lord.”
It came to me to seek advice from a careers advisor. I found a lovely lady offering a free service in nearby town, who was more than happy to spend time with me. She helped to restore my self-confidence and encouraged me to value all the vital work skills and experience I have developed over the years. A comment she made during our conversation led me to pursue a 4 week intensive training course in teaching English as a foreign language.
Well, I haven’t looked back! Although the course was challenging, I enjoyed it tremendously and then had an exciting summer working for 3 different language schools in England, Germany and Italy. Since October I have been enjoying regular supply teaching work in local primary schools and supplementing my income with regular evening work tutoring English as a foreign language.
For the first time in many years I can honestly say I am truly enjoying my work. I have a great deal of variety in my employment and have more time to enjoy other activities outside of work. These activities have included attending a weekly Bible lesson discussion group by Skype, being a member of the board at my local branch church and actively supporting the metaphysical work for our Association. What blessings!
