"Precept must be upon precept, precept upon precept, line upon line, line upon line, here a little and there a little." Isaiah 28:10
I woke in stark terror one night. I remembered reading of a healing by a couple who prayed all night to heal a belief of yellow fever using the "Scientific Statement of Being." The husband was healed by morning.
I prayed that night too - looking at each word for spiritual meaning and inspiration. It was a struggle; sometimes I felt overwhelmed. But I kept on. A while later I could almost "feel" the surety of God's presence coming. I fell asleep and awoke in peace in the morning. What a lesson! I felt like the "little engine that could" (even though I know it was God's strength that was really victorious).
I have learned a little that there is "neither power nor reality in evil." (SH 186:15) I also learned that if healing happened once, it could happen EVERY time like King David's assurance of victory over Goliath because of his experience of victory over the paw of the lion and paw of the bear. I also learned to turn and FACE fear rather than hide from it (even by distracting myself in my books).
I cannot express enough, my gratitude, not only for the lesson I learned, but for the provision Mary Baker Eddy makes for testimonies in the periodicals and at the weekly church service so that we can share, encourage and help each other, and, most of all, give praise to God.
