Inspiring Church

We recently (in Oct.) had a special gathering with Sunday School students, visitors and members one evening to read the chapter Prayer out loud together.  Our whole church/Sunday School had been studying the chapterthroughout the summer.  It took on deeper meaning after Sept. eleventh, as you can imagine...

We (the committee who prepared this idea) thought of the chapter as a kind of music-composition and made a choral reading of it.  It took a lot of care and thought and the evening was absolutely holy and heart-warming.  Each person brought his or her own Science and Health.  (We had "rehearsed" and marked books with the Sunday School students the week before.)  We sat in concentric circles in the Sunday School, (shoulder to shoulder) and the adults were given their parts as they took their seat- and began helping each other to mark their book.   A number of the simpler sentences were also read in translations: Russian, French, German, Spanish, Swedish... by both SS students and adults.   Some sentences we all read aloud together.  It flowed beautifully.  It expressed unity.  I was thinking as we read, about how meaningful this book has been to each child and adult's life-- hearing them read from a book that has healed them and their families again and again!  Wow!  Including many voices I'd never heard before.

The committee that prepared this was last year's World Wide Weekend committee which grew to be the Church Family Community committee this year!  Full of ideas!
