"Precept must be upon precept, precept upon precept, line upon line, line upon line, here a little and there a little." Isaiah 28:10
This afternoon I had a conversation over the phone with one of my suppliers in the USA whom I have been working very closely over the years. He intended to pay a visit to us (his customer) at the end of the April and I told him that I will be away.
This had let to a conversation over religion. He started to telling me that he and his family have been to different denomination of Christian churches over the year and finally are happy with the current church. I told him that I am going to the Christian Science church, and was also went through different denominations through my travel. I explained to him about Mary Baker Eddy and the Principle of Christian Science healing. He was very interested in it. Since his work involves a lot of travelling with the United States and Canada, I mentioned to him that there are always CS Reading Rooms in every city in the US. He is also familiar with the Christian Science Monitor.
This suddenly reminded me of the experience when I was on a business trip in Hawaii last year. The main purpose of my trip was to show one of our plants installed on site to our client and the contractor as well as getting to know other parties involved in the project in order to ensure a harmonious working relationship. After the dinner one evening, we all started conversations and the boss from the contractor company and I got to the religious topic.
He mentioned that he had been searching for truth for quite some time - reading the Scriptures from cover to cover and going to different churches, however, he is not very convinced of the teaching from any of the churches that he had been to and therefore he is not going to church at all at the moment. After finding out that he had not heard of CS in the past, I started to tell him about Christian Science and Mary Baker Eddy's book Science and Health. He had many questions in relating to the Bible as well as healing and can relate to the many of the spiritual ideas og CS and eager to find out more about the healing aspect of the CS. We must have talked over two hours together on religion and Christian Science.
Needless to say that we had a very rewarding trip and upon returning I sent him a copy of Science and Health with a note of explaining that this book will answer many of the questions he has and he may like to find out what he thinks of the book. The project is going very well so far and we have not had any opportunity to talk on religion again but I am glad that we did and happy for the courage I had for telling him about S&H and sending him the copy of the book.
