"Precept must be upon precept, precept upon precept, line upon line, line upon line, here a little and there a little." Isaiah 28:10
I am very grateful for the two occasions, which allowed me to share three copies of Science and Heath with the Key to the Scriptures with three of my colleagues in 2007.
One of my colleagues, having served the company as an accounting administrator for over 15 years, received a notice of sudden dismissal just a few hours before finishing work. She was in great shock and despair and left the office in tears. She was not only a single mother but also had just lost her 21-year-old son due to sickness. My heart was reaching out for her. Her situation reminded me so much of Mrs Eddy’s early life experience. I decided to share this with her. On the day my colleagues took her out for a farewell dinner, I brought her a copy of Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures and wrote in a note about Mary Baker Eddy’s life experience and how she had overcome her trials and tribulation through her trusting in God. She later sent me a thank note about the book and let me know that she will be very interested to read it. A couple of weeks later she happily found a new employment. Although I have not heard from her, and I know, the book can be a great comfort to her at time of need.
On another occasion, I noticed that an audible Science and Health was available for sale through The Mother Church website. Upon purchasing this book, I realised that I needed a high-speed internet in order to download the book efficiently enough. After making inquiries with my colleagues, our IT network administrator, who is also a long-time good friend of mine, offered to help me to complete the download process at home. She is a deeply religious person - a devoted Catholic. We often have conversation on religion and always end with some commonalities. During that time she had just lost both of her parents whom she had not been able to spend time with for over 12 years before their passing overseas. Much to her regret she suffered with a feeling of guilt. After I told her about Science and Health, she not only loved the title of the book and very much liked to have a copy of it. 2007 Christmas she was so thrilled to receive a hard copy of Science and Health from me and told me that this will be great for reading.
Following this, I went ahead to purchase the companion audible book - King James version of the Bible. Having also offered his help to download the book Science and Health for me previously, I decided to ask my colleague from drafting department to complete the download for me this time. Before I even told him about the book, he said to me “it must be the Bible”. Highly skilled in computer, he loves to create animated 3D engineering modules. Part of my work relies heavily on his skill and talent. He is a very delightful person to work with regardless of his rather laid back attitude. Having been branded once by people at workplace as being “fat and stupid”, he was feeling a sense of hurt and leaving a scar of low-self esteem deep down. When I told him about Science and Health, he was fascinated about the title, and he seems to know many stories in the Bible. He told me that he cannot go to sleep before two in the morning normally; therefore, he would rather spend all his time playing the simulators on the computer. I suggested if he would go to bed earlier and listen to these books instead that would definitely help him with a good sleep. He thought that was a great idea.
