Sunday School Blessings

Having taught in the Sunday School at our branch church for several years prior to having children of our own, my husband and I considered it an honour, witnessing these innocent ones grasping more of their divine nature.  We often felt we were learning so much ourselves from these dear reflections.

Now our own two boys, aged two and four, are deeply enveloped in the wonderful provision of Sunday School, and loving every minute of it! We are so grateful for the dedication and humility of the teachers, and the members who visit Sunday School to see their latest work.

There have been several beautiful moments of spiritual growth as they increasingly put these spiritual pearls into action in their daily lives.  Whilst his younger brother was still a small baby, I remember the older boy (then two) standing at the side of his brother’s Moses basket and in a clear sweet voice declaring , “It’s O.K..  I’m here. God loves you.”

More recently, the same son was quiet when we had gone out for pizza as a special treat.  He suddenly turned to me with a huge smile and a giggle, “Mummy.  I didn’t feel very good, but then I spoke to God and now I’m fine.”, before taking a big bite out of some pizza.

Our church has really worked to make the Sunday School a key part of the Sunday service, and the way in which these little ones are welcomed in for the final hymn and closing readings with such love and relaxed thought has been such a blessing as a parent.  Hearing the two year old very loudly and excitedly affirm “AHHHMEN” at the end of each Sunday service makes my heart sing!
