Teenager Protected From Violent Attack

Our son seems to have been a target for bullying since he started school.  But he never fights back, and I admire his strength and way of dealing with things.

One Friday night he stopped to pick up a take-away after work, and five lads from his school walked in.  For no reason they started to hit him, and when he asked why they were doing this one of the larger lads head-butted him and punched him in the eye.  The owners of the place then intervened and there was a scuffle and the boys left.  The police became involved, but our son did not want to press charges.

The first thing we dealt with was that he should not feel hateful towards the boys.  I knew that all God’s children are receptive to good and included in the kingdom of heaven, safe in divine Love and governed by one Mind.  I always feel when children behave in the wrong way that they are victims of wrong thought, but this wrong thought is not the truth about them.

Our son’s fear was that because the police were involved he might encounter worse bullying than before.  I do understanding his fear because I experienced racial bullying when I was young, but I very rarely told anyone as I felt the same as he does now.  But I felt in this case it would be wrong to ignore the error.  I just had to know the boys were receptive to good.

This story had a lovely ending.  The boys approached our son at school and said they were very sorry for what they had done.  They said they’d had too much to drink and didn’t know what they were doing.  Various people expressed opinions that these lads were “losers” but we refused to accept this and just tried to see the truth about them, and know that we all have one parent Mind.

It’s such a treat to see God’s work in practice.
