While I have had many healings this year, what came to mind were three healings related to the passage to be memorized, showing how naturally sin and disease disappear under the operation of divine Principle.
One of my earliest healings was of migraine headaches. I was just looking for peace when I came into Christian Science. I did not even really know about the healing element. I was just concentrating on understanding the truth. Somewhere along the line, the headaches just disappeared, and I stopped taking the powerful medicine I had been given. There was nothing dramatic, like making some scientific declaration and throwing the drugs out of the window! Frankly, I don’t remember when the healing happened, but I do know I’ve never had another headache in twenty years.
At the same time I was taking heavy medication for the so-called "change of life." I remember even less about that, except the medicine made me more uncomfortable than symptoms! All symptoms disappeared after I studied Christian Science.
I was elected reader, and felt uneasy because I wore reading glasses at the time. I was reminded by someone that I should just concentrate on the job at hand, which was getting to know more about the truth and God. I did that, and some time within the second year I stopped wearing the glasses, and still do not need them to read.
As the years go by, these lessons become more apparent to me. Our job is to get to know God better and so spiritualize our thinking and living.
I am reminded of words of the song “Day by day” in the musical Godspell. These healings voice my commitment today to “See thee more clearly, Love thee more dearly, Follow thee more nearly, day by day.”
